Arrival & Orientation
Orientation will be approximately 5 days and will introduce you to your role as a staff member at Kutsher's Sports Academy. Our information sessions are designed to give you all of the tools that you need to be successful in your role this summer. In addition to the information sessions, you can expect hands on workshops, games, and fun activities & events throughout the week. These will all set the tone for the amazing summer ahead!
You will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with your co-counselors and all of the other amazing stuff on camp. We will plan some fun nights for you both on and off camp.
When you arrive at camp, you will be given a temporary cabin assignment. Permanent assignments will be given after our one week mini-camp session. We do our best to ensure that each staff member is assigned to an age group that best fits their skills and personality.

Meet our Directors

Hillary & Michael are the 19th known KSA marriage. They met as staff members in 2007 and have two little girls, Emma & Aliza.
Both Hillary & Michael are members of the American Camp Association.
Michael Gilberg - Executive Director/Co-Owner
Michael Gilberg is the executive director of Kutsher's Sports Academy and oversees all of the day-to-day operations. He started his KSA career as a camper in 1995, later becoming a counselor, and then a baseball coach. Michael earned a bachelors degree in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland and a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. Prior to becoming the director of KSA, Michael worked in the New York Mets' baseball operations department, and then served as an attorney in the New York State Inspector General's office.
Hillary Gilberg - Director/Co-Owner
Hillary Gilberg is also a former KSA camper and counselor. She takes the lead on camper recruitment, the KSA social media accounts, and is the girls head counselor during the summer. Hillary attended the George Washington University and earned a masters degree in education from Touro College. After graduating college, Hillary worked as the Post Grad Coordinator for Project Morry, a nonprofit organization and summer camp. Prior to returning to KSA in 2016, Hillary was an elementary school teacher in New York and South Florida.

Brad Rangell - Athletic Director/Co-Owner
Brad has joined KSA as athletic director, where he is in charge of the several new athletic programs including Track, Cross Country, and Roller Hockey. Prior to joining KSA, Brad was the Managing Director and Team Leader for Citi Private Bank's Sports Advisory Business, where he initiated coverage on the sports sector and built a multi-billion dollar business buying, selling, and financing professional sports teams. "Coach Brad" was a competitive runner in high school and college and continues to be active in competitive tennis, roller hockey, basketball, and other sports. Brad is a graduate of Binghamton University (MBA) and Brandeis University (B.A.) and lives in Woodbury, Long Island, with his wife, two sons, and daughter Gracie (a ten-year old Golden Doodle)

David Resnick - Assistant Director
David's connection to Kutsher's Sports Academy began in 1998. He is a former longtime camper and counselor and returned to KSA in 2017 as the Program Director before being elevated to a year-round position. David is a New Rochelle native, graduate of the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, and a sports broadcaster in the New York metropolitan area in the off-season. During his time as a KSA camper, David was a three-time (and first non-senior) winner of the Shirley and Nat Tessler Memorial Award for voluntary service to Kutsher's Sports Academy and its campers. In 2019, David received the Milton Kutsher Memorial Award for outstanding commitment and dedication as a staff member.

Eric Stein - Boys Head Counselor
Eric "Steiny" Stein joined Kutsher's Sports Academy in December of 2019 after 30 years in various roles at Timber Lake Camp and brought along Knox, his 10 year old Jack Russell Terrier, who quickly became a part of the KSA experience.
Eric has a Bachelors of Science in physical education from SUNY Cortland. He has spent 20 years as the Assistant Athletic Director at The Wheeler School in Providence, Rhode Island where he also serves as a physical education teacher, US advisor, and coach.

Tristin Pearson - Day Camp Director
We are so excited for Tristin to join us as our new day camp director! Tristin has both a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Elementary Education from Umass Lowell. At Umass Lowell she was captain of the Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Team, earned ALL-American status and still holds two sprint records.
During the school year Tristin is a teacher in Sheffield MA at Berkshire School’s UMCC. She has been an early childhood teacher since 2010 and has worked in centers in both Chicago and Westerly, RI. Tristin is a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts but now has a home in Lakeville, Ct with her husband and young daughter.
